Differences Between A Celebrant & A Registrar

REGISTRAR OR INDEPENDENT CELEBRANT?

Making The Right Choice

Planning one of the most memorable and special days of your life involves a whole host of choices. But one choice could define your entire experience: do you go with a Registrar or an Independent Celebrant? Why is this a big deal? Let me explain!

YOUR PERFECT DAY

Choosing An Independent Celebrant

A registrar is an excellent option for those planning for a simple quick ‘no-nonsense’ ceremony; a more formal, routine framework. Imagine your day: you’ve booked your ceremony at a licenced venue, you arrive, the registar arrives introduces themselves and runs through the ‘order of service’ with you, at the agreed time the ceremony proceeds, you exchange legal vows and rings, sign your marriage certificate, and just like that, it’s over. It’s efficient but leaves little room for personalisation.

Now imagine having the freedom to have a ceremony exactly as you want it to be, wherever you want it to be – no restrictions!

Say “I do” under the sprawling canopy of trees in the woods, in a beautiful garden setting, a magical castle, the familiar surroundings of your family home or even on a gorgeous beach as the sun sets.

Your Independent Celebrant gives you the magic of choice.

I’m passionate that you have the day of your dreams. I don’t just show up for the ceremony; I give you my dedicated support from the moment you book me. I meet with you months before your ceremony date, get to know you as a couple and what you want for your special day. I’m committed to making every moment of your day as unique and unforgettable as your love story. No clock-watching, no rushing. If life throws a curveball, we adapt and embrace it. Together we’ll ensure your day unfolds exactly as you’ve dreamed.

Choosing an Independent Celebrant means having your wedding* your way – we’ll make sure your wishes come true!

*This ceremony doesn’t include legal registration of marriage in England or Wales. If you plan to have a legally binding marriage, this is arranged as a short separate appointment at your local Register office.  In Kent, the current cost is approx. £150, and you must have two witnesses in attendance.

This legal ceremony doesn’t necessitate exchanging vows or rings, so you can save these heartfelt moments for your celebrant-led wedding ceremony, surrounded by your loved ones, at your chosen venue.
