Registry office or special venue

But all the decisions can be overwhelming too. You’re making your ceremony unique, and you need to know the roles and limitations of people helping you tie the knot. Here’s how Registrars and Celebrants, help make your day memorable – in their own ways!

In England and Wales, your wedding ceremony (just like other significant life events such as births or deaths,) must be officially recorded. A Registrar oversees your life event, which must take place either in a Registry Office or a licensed venue. Registrars are bound by specific legal limitations, including the restriction of forbidding religious or spiritual content in the ceremony. They must keep things official.
In contrast, Celebrants are free from legal constraints. We work with you to create a bespoke ceremony, to sprinkle magic on your special day. A day to truly reflect your personality, values, and love story. We can include your religious beliefs, pagan rituals, celebrating your unique journey to create moments that are as one-of-a-kind as your love.
Should you choose Registrar or Celebrant? This comes down to what matters most to you. If your top priority is ensuring your ceremony is legally recognized, a Registrar is the way to go. But for a ceremony that breaks free from tradition and captures the essence of your relationship, a Celebrant could be your perfect match. Many couples choose to register their marriage quietly in a brief register office appointment – then they’re free to plan their big day exactly as they wish.
*You could have a private registry service for the legal ceremony, and then I can support you in creating a celebration that’s as unique and wonderful as you are, a special day to celebrate your marriage, and a truly magical time to remember.
